An Addition Nightmare in BC

The community homeowners association has caused unneeded issues with their vague language in their neighbourhood covenant.  Be sure to understand who has jurisdiction for construction approvals in your communities to avoid unnecessary costs and headaches.  You can run significant costs just to determine if the law sides with you!


The two common unknown jurisdictions that I normally find that clients are unfamiliar with are: The Department of the Environment (lakefront or near lake developments) and The Department of Highways (near many our of roads).  Ignorance of the requirements is not an excuse!  A lot of time, money & effort can be saved with proper planning and understanding.  Even then, there can be the occasional monkey wrench!
